Why Shred
Security
Recycling alone is not designed to provide security, and does not provide compliance with regulations regarding destruction of documents. Recyclable documents are picked up and transported in their entirety, resulting in the risk of confidential information becoming open to everyone.
If recycling is part of your environmental mandate, Slesnick can help you fulfill it. We recycle all of your documents, after they are destroyed, into a variety of useful paper products.
Cost-effectiveness
It’s much more cost-effective to create an optimal shredding and recycling program together. Using smaller in-house shredders results in your employees spending time separating paper, removing paper clips and staples, and doing the actual shredding. It’s also extremely difficult to audit employees actual compliance without separate waste stream audits. Installation of a shredder, as well as labor, maintenance and disposal costs are usually much higher than an optimal shredding and recycling program.
Manage and Reduce Risk
Once a document retention period has passed, the best way of discarding these records is to destroy them using a method of complete destruction. Shredding is the safest way to ensure that documents are completely destroyed. A Certificate of Destruction which documents the exact date and method used is not only a best practice, but it may be a legal requirement. Adopting shredding as the only way to dispose of company documents is a best practice that protects your business, employee and customer information.
Protect the Environment
Every ton of paper recycled saves 17 trees, 410 gallons of fuel, 4200 kw hours of energy, and 7,000 gallons of water. We help our customers understand that we are helping them stay secure, but we are also helping them stay green. Every document that we shred is baled and sent to the recycle mill. Slesnick Recycling offers protection of personal information as well as protection of the environment.
